The history of the "Von Achor" Sacred Birmans

The original cats of the first generation:

My first Birman female with my first litter!Geisha von Scilia/*CH, SBI-a, born 23.4.78: Sire: Int.Ch.Iros de Ranchipur/*F, SBI-n, Dam:Ch. Marquiese de la Tour du Pin/*F, SBI-n, with kittens born 10.6.79 to Int.Ch. Iros de Ranchipur/*F. The  "Von Achor" Birmans were founded on 10.6.79, because on this very day, the first litter of  "Von Achor"  Kittens was born - proud parents were  Int.Ch. Iros de Ranchipur and Geisha von Scilia.
During the first years, I only bred the classical colours: seals and blue points. The foundation cats were: Geisha and Mirka von Scilia, Adele aus der Wolfshöhle and Gr.Int.Ch.+Euro.Pr. Estella van Dur-Khaima (Estella is still alive, she lives here as an elderly neutered lady) all blue points, as well as the seal points Koralie zur Riegelfeste and Ch. Couette de plume de la Renouée. My first stud was Bali des Orientales, seal point.
 

The second generation cats:

Dusty of Quint's Cousin war der erste lilac point Birma in der Schweiz und der erste lilac point Fifé Europa Champion! In 1988 came the "new colors". First came the first lilacpoint in Switzerland - and also the first ever lilacpointed Birman Fifé-Europa Champion,  "Euro.Ch. Dusty of Quint's Cousin". In the same year came the first tabbypoint to Switzerland: Änghagen's Stripe Yoma, seal tabby point, and Änghagen's Ursula, seal tortie tabby point, who was also the first red factor Birman here.  Ursula later went to Denmark and her daughter, who later returned to the "Von Achor" breeding programme, Euro.Ch. Sofie's Tortie Tabby Tatjana, seal tortie tabby point, became the first  Fifé-Euro Champion Birman in this color.
KessyBy the end of  1989 came the fantastic lilac point female, Gr.Int.Ch. Kessy von den Bastian's. She is the dam of "Euro.Ch. Wombat von Achor", seal tabby point, whose father, Int.Ch. + Gr.Int.Pr. Sma-Troll's Lord Nelson, seal tabby point, was my first tabby point Stud. He was imported from Germany in 1990. Wombat was sold to Germany, but he was used several times in the  "von Achor" breeding programme. Kessy and Dusty are also the parents of Int.Ch.X-Polaris von Achor, lilac point who took over the place of his the neutered father,
In 1990 came two significant bluepointed females -  Int.Ch. Gina de Plessis DM and her sister Jasmin de Plessis to join the "Von Achor" cats.  In 1992, these females came from Germany:  "Gr.Int.Ch.+Gr.Int.Pr. Belinda vom Rosenstock" Blue point, born. 1987), Las Perlas sin Esperanza (seal tabby point), as well as the male Int.Ch. Las Perlas sin Magnum, seal tabby point, born 1989) and finally in 1993 I received the chocolate point male Gr.Int.Ch. Larson fan it Syreja Hiem from Holland.

Founding the  "New generation":

The day of the 26th February 1995 must have been the worst day of my life. On this day I had gone to a cat show with Ch.Bambi von Achor DM, seal tabby point, Euro.Ch. Bianca von Achor, lilac point, Gr.Int.Ch.Larson fan it Syreja Hiem chocolat point, Gr.Int.Ch.+Euro.Pr. Estella van Dur-Khaima, blue point und Gr.Int.Ch.+Gr.Int.Pr.Belinda vom Rosenstock, blue point.
While I was gone, a defect heating device caused a fire at my house. Because of the smoke, all 14 adult Birmans and a housecat, who had all stayed at home, succomed to lack of oxygene. Several of the females were pregnant and would have given birth in a matter of only a few days.

Er und sein Bruder Calimero vonAchor/*CH SBI-n-21, sind die einzigen zwei Katzen die den Brand in meinem Haus dort überlebt haben.Sie wurden an diesem Tag geboren und brauchten als Neugeborene wenig Sauerstoff, so das sie unterihrer toten Mutter überlebt haben.As by a miracle,  2 newborn kittens,  "Calimero von Achor" seal tabby point and "Int.Pr.Creme-Calyso von Achor" creme tabby point, survived from under their dead mother.
At this point I no longer had the possibility to keep a stud with me, and Larson was sent to Germany. Estella was a neuter and Belinda was already 8 years old. The only entire cats I had left were Bambi und Bianca. Thru good friends, I was able to buy backa kitten that I had bred my self - "Gr.Int.Ch. Belladonna Von Achor DM" seal tabby point, and later also my stud Euro.Ch. Aljev von Achor DM, blue point. With these cats, as well as some from the Dutch "Fan it Syreja Hiem" cattery and 2 tortie tabby females from the likewise Dutch "van de Bloemendaal" and yet later the Swedish import, the stud "Int.Ch.Happy Sun Faces Casco.E." was I able to slowly rebuild my breeding programme.

Tristan Von Achor/*CH

SBI-c lilac point male, born on 1.8.89, the first swiss born lilac point Birma. Sire: Euro.Ch. Dusty of Quint's Cousin/*NL SBI-c, Dam: Sirikit van Miacis/*NL SBI-a. Exported to Germany to reknown breeder, Mrs. Anneli Falk "Las Perlas". He was the first lilac point Birman stud in Germany.

Int.Pr. Änghagen's Ursula/*S

SBI-f-21, she and her halfsisterÄnghagen's Stripe Yoma/*S, SBI-n-21, were the first tabby point Birmans in Switzerland and at the same time my first red factor Birmans. Later she went to Hanne Sofie Sneum,  and her daughter Euro.Ch.Sofie's Tortie Tabby Tatjana/*DK, SBI-f-21, whom I received in return, was the first SBI-f-21 Europa Champion Birma in  Fifé. "Yoma" stayed with me, but sadly her pelvis was too narrow for giving normal birht, and she was later neutered. Her daughter, "Velvet" stayed with me, but proved barren.Another daughter, "Yasintha" joined another breeders programme, was shown until  Euro.Ch. and is still being used in the breeding programme.
